Here we have a really beautiful Shuker Series 2 – 6 string fretted bass, made in England by the great Jon Shuker.
Build quality on this bass is really stunning and the multi wood/thru neck construction is truly a thing to behold. Setup wise this bass plays really low and would suit a player that values a low action but still maintains great tone and superb note consistency across the incredibly stable and playable phenolic fingerboard.
Condition:
Condition is very good with minor signs of honest player wear, like on the pickup cover where the logo print is wearing off slightly. As always we have taken a lot of pictures of the bass, so please check these over on the site.
Summary:
A lovely looking and playing 6 string, albeit a bit on the weighty side based on the hard woods used and being a 6 string. Absolutely lovely construction and craftsmanship, would cost an awful lot of money to have one built like this now.
Pre Sale Service/Work:
Set up, clean and full check.
*The bass has also had a new set of Dogal Nickelsteel strings on since these pictures were taken.
*The bass comes with a custom fitted hard flight case: (the outer case has some wear from use but perfectly usable while offering great protection for the bass).
Comments:
Always an adventure moving into the multi string bass world. Some still turn up their noses at these kind of basses but it’s true to say that you can do things on these that would be impossible on a 4 or 5. Plus, for reading parts in the higher resister going across the fingerboard in the same position is always easier than going up the neck!
The bass has a phenolic composite fingerboard which feels great to play, almost like a graphite neck feel.
Fairly weighty at 11.64lbs, but it’s a 6 built from multiple and beautiful hardwoods.
